Court sucks.

I had to go to court today for a traffic violation which occurred in November.. I had expired tabs (only like a week and a half..) My mistake, but I also forgot my proof of insurance.. So, I faxed in my proof to find out this morning it wasn't sufficient enough... Fine.. To court I go..

Since someone else deemed it not sufficient.. They wouldn't take it either.. so now I have ANOTHER court date (June 13th..) so they have time to call my insurance guy to find out that, duh.. Leanne has insurance.. she's not a moron.

..Can't pay off my dumb tab ticket til that gets taken care of.. GOOD GRIEF.

So -- today.. or tonight, rather.. a big ol' handful of people are going to join me at Brunswick Zone (BP..) for some birthday bowling.. I decided to call BZBP today and let them know.. sort of a "help me help you" situation.. I don't want to have to wait for a few hours to get lanes next to one another, and I am pretty sure they want our business on a Monday night, as well as be aware that a big group is coming in...

Instead, I was told that there is a reservation fee for lanes.. and it would be $25 a lane.. not refundable, not deductible from the bowling fees.. Just a $25 fee per lane for them to hold one..

Forget that.. We will just show up, and not pay an extra $100 for that garbage.

I wrote the following entry on 12/29/2005. I didn't post in on livejournal.. but am now, as I like it. Without any more delay:

December 29, 2005.
The Orange Banana

Today I was remembering back when I was nine years old. For some reason or another, I was being babysat by the neighbors, and it wasn't necessarily a good day at their house. So, instead of listening to the arguing going on inside, I took a notebook, sat under a tree, and began to write a story. I called the story "The Orange Banana."

My story was about a girl who decides to make a - you guessed it- orange banana for a school project.

I worked on this story for weeks and was actually very proud of it.

Not anywhere near being finished, I showed my aunt what I had done so far. She then told me things I should add, such as "the girl's crazy aunt bringing home a cat." (Which had happened just weeks before..)

My story basically went from creative writing, creative writing, creative writing, to "what was going on in Leanne's life." How easily was I swayed, and this bothers me. By no means am I saying that I was this excellent writer. What I am saying is this: I can't ever look back at the story I worked so hard on, and know that it was my full nine-year-old potential.

Sigh.
